Lycean’s Commitment to Save the Earth (August 25, 2011)

The Junior Association of E-business Administration actively joined the Ecological Forum last August 25,2011 held  at SHL building, Freedom Hall, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas from 12:30 noon to 5:00 pm. The forum was conducted by OSA (Office of the Student Affairs). Different organizations of the University participates on the said activity. Before the activity begin, they presented a video regarding environment, followed by a prayer, national anthem and the Lyceum Hymn.
            Mrs. Flora V. Javier, VPSP, gave her welcome address followed by Mrs. Esmenia R. Javier, the Executive Vice President, with her inspirational talked. The first speaker was Mrs. Luisa Magboo-Garcia who discussed about the Role of PENRO in the implementation of PD 156, implementation of R.A. No. 1586, 6969, 8479 and R.A. No. 9003. She also focused on discussing Clean Water Act (R.A. No. 9275).
The second speaker was Dr. Dexter R. Buted, the Dean of LIMA, his speech was all about on the garbage disposal and Environmental Costal clean up. The third was Mr. Mon Araneta talked about Isla Verde passage. He also presented a video in which, its highlight was the difference between the conditions of the underwater environment of Isla Verde from before up to present.
The last speaker was Mr. Luis A. Awitan, who refreshes the mind of the students about what happened a couple of months ago-the Fishkill in Taal, Batangas. He stated some of the reasons why these problems occurred.  The forum was ended up to the students who wrote their commitment in the environment in a piece of paper. Then they    put it in the pot together with the stone which contain their name.
The ecological forum is indeed a great forum which wakens up the mind of Lyceans to save the earth and have environmental awareness. Being members of this society, it enlightened our mind to show our affection in the environment and deeply cherish the blessings that are all showered to us.
